Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
Potassium Dichromate 99.5% Extra Pure (CAS No. 7778-50-9) is an inorganic chromium(VI) salt containing the dichromate oxyanion. Dichromate participates in chromate–dichromate equilibria dependent on solution conditions and acts as a strong electron-accepting oxidant, particularly in acidic media, where chromium(VI) can be reduced to lower oxidation states. This well-defined redox chemistry underlies the compound’s extensive use as an oxidising reagent in laboratory chemistry.
The Extra Pure grade is suited to general preparative and investigative work requiring a defined dichromate source or chromium(VI) oxidant. It can support inorganic reaction studies, oxidation chemistry and preparation of laboratory reagent mixtures.

Storage Conditions
Store tightly closed in a dry, contamination-free environment so that the material’s oxidation state and reagent composition are preserved. Prevent contact contamination by reducing or readily oxidisable substances during storage and dispensing, since such contamination can consume dichromate and alter reagent performance.
