Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
1,10-Phenanthroline Monohydrate 99% AR/ACS (CAS No. 5144-89-8) is the monohydrate of 1,10-phenanthroline, a rigid bidentate nitrogen heteroaromatic ligand. The two ring nitrogens are positioned to chelate metal centres, and its exceptionally well-established complex with Fe²⁺ produces the intensely coloured tris(1,10-phenanthroline)iron(II) species commonly known as ferroin.
The AR/ACS grade is intended for spectrophotometric iron determination, metal-ion complexation and redox-indicator reagent preparation. ACS reagent specifications specifically include suitability for determining iron and suitability as a redox indicator, making the grade particularly relevant to conventional analytical chemistry and ferroin-based systems.
