Product Description

Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

1,2-Dichlorobenzene 99% AR (CAS No. 95-50-1) is the ortho isomer of dichlorobenzene, consisting of a benzene ring substituted with chlorine atoms at positions 1 and 2. It is a relatively high-boiling aromatic liquid with low aqueous solubility and appreciable compatibility with numerous organic substances. Its density, refractive index and solvent properties are relevant to conventional analytical investigations, particularly those involving the dissolution, extraction and physicochemical characterisation of hydrophobic organic materials.

The AR grade is intended for analytical reagent preparation, laboratory sample treatment and conventional chemical investigations requiring controlled 1,2-dichlorobenzene quality. It serves as an organic solvent for dissolving suitable hydrophobic substances, preparing test solutions and examining the partitioning of organic compounds between different media. It is also useful in analytical studies of chlorinated aromatic compounds and laboratory procedures involving measurements of solution composition, density, refractive index and solubility behaviour.

Typical Applications

  • Preparation of organic test solutions for conventional analytical procedures
  • Dissolution of hydrophobic organic substances before suitable analytical measurements
  • Laboratory extraction and partitioning studies involving organic compounds
  • Physicochemical investigations of chlorinated aromatic solvents
  • Analytical studies of solvent-dependent solubility and solution composition
  • Evaluation of density and refractive index in organic liquid systems
  • Laboratory quality-control investigations involving organic solvent properties

Common Synonyms

  • o-Dichlorobenzene
  • ortho-Dichlorobenzene
  • 1,2-Dichlorobenzol
  • o-Dichlorobenzol
  • Benzene, 1,2-dichloro-

Storage Conditions

Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place, protected from excessive heat and direct sunlight. Avoid unnecessary exposure to air and contamination during handling to preserve the composition and analytical quality of the liquid reagent.
