Product Overview

Ammonia Solution 25% AR (CAS No. 1336-21-6) is a concentrated aqueous ammonia reagent that produces an alkaline medium through reversible interaction with water. Its acid-neutralising capacity and affinity for selected metal ions support controlled changes in pH, hydroxide precipitation, complex formation, and other solution-phase reactions used in classical laboratory analysis.

The AR grade is intended for analytical reagent preparation, quality-control testing, and research procedures in which reagent composition and impurity control are important. It is suitable for preparing ammoniacal media, adjusting analytical reaction conditions, and carrying out wet-chemical procedures where aqueous ammonia is required as a base, precipitating reagent, or complex-forming reagent.

Typical Applications

  • Preparation of ammoniacal analytical reagents
  • Adjustment and control of pH in wet-chemical procedures
  • Precipitation and separation of selected metal ions
  • Formation of soluble metal–ammine complexes
  • Preparation of ammonium salts and alkaline test solutions
  • Routine qualitative analysis and quality-control testing

Common Synonyms

  • Aqueous Ammonia
  • Ammonium Hydroxide Solution
  • Ammonia Water
  • Ammonia, Aqueous Solution
  • Ammonia Solution 25%

Storage Conditions

Store in the original, tightly closed, chemically compatible container in a cool and well-ventilated location. Protect the solution from heat and prolonged exposure to air, and reseal the container immediately after dispensing to minimise ammonia loss, concentration change, and contamination.
