Product Overview

Ammonia Solution 30% AR/ACS (CAS No. 1336-21-6) is a concentrated aqueous solution of ammonia that provides a controlled alkaline medium for analytical and inorganic laboratory procedures. In water, dissolved ammonia participates in a reversible acid–base equilibrium and can also coordinate with selected metal ions, supporting its use in pH adjustment, selective precipitation, complex formation, and classical wet-chemical analysis.

The AR/ACS grade is intended for analytical reagent preparation, quality-control testing, research, and academic laboratory work where controlled composition and limited reagent-derived impurities are important. It is suitable for preparing ammoniacal solutions and buffers, regulating analytical reaction conditions, and carrying out procedures in which ammonia serves as a base, complexing reagent, or precipitating agent.

Typical Applications

  • Preparation of ammoniacal analytical reagents and buffer solutions
  • pH adjustment in wet-chemical and quality-control procedures
  • Selective precipitation of metal ions as hydroxides
  • Formation of soluble metal–ammine complexes
  • Qualitative inorganic analysis and ion-separation procedures
  • Complexometric and colorimetric reagent preparation
  • Neutralisation of acidic analytical solutions
  • Routine analytical, research, and academic laboratory work

Common Synonyms

  • Aqueous Ammonia
  • Ammonium Hydroxide Solution
  • Ammonia Water
  • Ammonia, Aqueous Solution
  • Concentrated Ammonia Solution
  • Ammoniacal Solution

Storage Conditions

Store in the original, tightly closed, chemically compatible container in a cool and well-ventilated location. Protect the solution from heat and prolonged exposure to air. Reseal the container immediately after dispensing to minimise ammonia loss, concentration change, and contamination.
