Product Overview
Ammonium Acetate 98% For Molecular Biology (CAS No. 631-61-8) is the ammonium salt of acetic acid, comprising ammonium and acetate ions in a readily water-soluble salt system. Its relatively mild acid–base behaviour and compatibility with aqueous biochemical media make ammonium acetate useful where an ammonium-containing, volatile salt is required. The compound is also widely used in molecular and analytical chemistry because aqueous ammonium acetate systems can provide controlled ionic conditions while remaining suitable for downstream procedures in which excessive non-volatile inorganic salts are undesirable.
The Molecular Biology grade is intended for biochemical and nucleic-acid workflows requiring ammonium acetate as a reagent or buffer component. It is commonly used in DNA and RNA purification and precipitation procedures, preparation of ammonium acetate-based buffer systems, and selected chromatographic workflows involving biomolecules such as oligonucleotides, peptides and proteins. The grade is also relevant to molecular-biology reagent preparation where control of nuclease and protease contamination is important to the experimental system.

Storage Conditions
Store tightly closed in a dry environment and protect the material from unnecessary atmospheric moisture, as ammonium acetate is hygroscopic and moisture uptake can alter the material during storage and handling. Maintain clean handling conditions and promptly reseal the container after dispensing to preserve its suitability for molecular-biology reagent preparation and nucleic-acid workflows.
