Product Overview

Ammonium Bicarbonate 98.5% Extra Pure (CAS No. 1066-33-7) is an inorganic ammonium salt that supplies ammonium and bicarbonate ions in aqueous systems. Its mild alkalinity and ability to release ammonia, carbon dioxide, and water upon decomposition give it useful behaviour in buffer preparation, carbonate–bicarbonate chemistry, and laboratory procedures requiring a readily removable inorganic reagent.

The Extra Pure grade is intended for routine laboratory preparation, inorganic synthesis, research, and educational work. It is suitable for establishing mildly alkaline reaction conditions, supplying ammonium or bicarbonate species, and conducting precipitation, decomposition, and solution-chemistry studies where dependable reagent quality is required.

Typical Applications

  • Preparation of bicarbonate-containing laboratory solutions
  • Establishment of mildly alkaline aqueous reaction media
  • Source of ammonium and bicarbonate ions in inorganic procedures
  • pH adjustment and buffer-related laboratory work
  • Precipitation studies involving compatible metal ions
  • Thermal decomposition and gas-evolution experiments
  • Routine preparative, research, and educational chemistry

Common Synonyms

  • Ammonium Hydrogen Carbonate
  • Ammonium Acid Carbonate
  • Acid Ammonium Carbonate
  • Ammonium Bicarbonate

Storage Conditions

Store in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated location. Protect the material from heat, moisture, and prolonged exposure to air. Reseal the container promptly after dispensing to minimise decomposition and preserve product quality.
