Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
Benzaldehyde 99% AR (CAS No. 100-52-7) is a monofunctional aromatic aldehyde in which a formyl group is bonded directly to a benzene ring. Its electrophilic carbonyl centre undergoes characteristic addition and condensation reactions, while conjugation with the phenyl ring influences the stability and analytical behaviour of the resulting derivatives. These predictable reactions make benzaldehyde a useful reference aldehyde and carbonyl reagent in classical analytical chemistry.
The AR grade is intended for analytical reagent preparation, qualitative organic analysis, derivatisation procedures, method-development work, and laboratory quality control requiring benzaldehyde of analytical-reagent quality. It is particularly relevant to controlled carbonyl reactions, preparation of identifiable aldehyde derivatives, and selected procedures in which benzaldehyde converts primary aromatic amines into corresponding imine derivatives.

Storage Conditions
Store in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area. Protect from light, excessive heat, prolonged exposure to air, and contamination. Reseal the container promptly after use to limit gradual oxidation of benzaldehyde to benzoic acid and preserve its suitability for analytical reagent preparation.
