Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
Benzyl Alcohol 99.9% GC-HS (CAS No. 100-51-6) is a primary aromatic alcohol containing a hydroxymethyl group attached directly to a phenyl ring. Its aromatic and hydroxyl functionalities provide useful solvating capacity for many compatible organic substances, while its comparatively limited transfer into the vapour phase allows volatile components dissolved in the liquid matrix to be sampled selectively by headspace gas chromatography.
The GC-HS grade is intended for static headspace gas-chromatographic procedures in which solvent-derived volatile background and interfering peaks must be carefully controlled. It is particularly relevant as a high-boiling matrix medium or sample diluent for residual-solvent analysis, solvent-blank preparation, calibration and recovery studies, and compatible methods requiring dissolution of the test material before headspace equilibration. Selection of equilibration, dilution, and sample-treatment conditions remains method-specific because analyte partitioning and recovery depend on the sample matrix and the volatile compounds being determined.

Storage Conditions
Store in a tightly closed container protected from light in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area. Minimise prolonged exposure to air and contamination by volatile organic substances that could affect the headspace blank. Close the container promptly after use and use clean, solvent-compatible dispensing equipment to preserve chromatographic cleanliness. During analytical solution preparation, avoid unnecessary prolonged sonication or harsh treatment that could promote formation of volatile degradation products.
