Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
Bromoform 98% Extra Pure (CAS No. 75-25-2) is tribromomethane, a brominated one-carbon haloalkane containing three bromine atoms attached to a single carbon centre. The strongly electron-withdrawing halogen substituents influence the remaining carbon–hydrogen bond and enable base-mediated formation of tribromomethyl intermediates or dibromocarbene under suitable reaction conditions. Its high halogen content also gives the liquid a notably high density, which underlies its specialised use as a heavy separation medium.
The Extra Pure grade is intended for general organic synthesis, reaction development and laboratory density-separation procedures requiring bromoform of defined catalogue purity. It may be used as a brominated synthetic intermediate, a dibromocarbene source.

Storage Conditions
Store in a tightly closed container protected from direct light, air exposure, excessive heat, evaporation and contamination. Bromoform can gradually discolour and decompose on exposure to light and air; therefore, minimise unnecessary opening and return the container promptly to dark storage after use. Preserve any stabilising system present in the supplied product without assuming or altering its composition.
