Product Overview

Cadmium Acetate Dihydrate 98% Extra Pure (CAS No. 5743-04-4) is the dihydrated acetate salt of cadmium in the +2 oxidation state. Its acetate ligands and water of crystallisation provide a readily handled cadmium precursor that can release Cd²⁺ into suitable solution media or participate directly in coordination and thermal-conversion chemistry. The defined dihydrate form must be preserved during storage and accounted for in stoichiometric preparation.

The Extra Pure grade is intended for preparative inorganic chemistry, nanomaterial synthesis and coordination-chemistry research requiring a soluble cadmium(II) acetate source.

Typical Applications

  • Cadmium precursor in preparation of cadmium sulphide nanocrystals and thin films.
  • Starting material for cadmium selenide, cadmium telluride and mixed chalcogenide research.
  • Preparation of cadmium oxide and other cadmium-containing materials through precipitation or thermal conversion.
  • Synthesis of cadmium coordination compounds and coordination polymers.
  • Source of Cd²⁺ in studies of ligand binding, crystal growth and solution precipitation.
  • Preparation of cadmium-containing experimental coatings and functional materials.

Common Synonyms

  • Cadmium(II) Acetate Dihydrate
  • Cadmium Diacetate Dihydrate
  • Acetic Acid Cadmium Salt Dihydrate
  • Cadmium Acetate 2-Hydrate
  • Cadmium Acetate Dihydrate

Storage Conditions

Store in a tightly closed container in a dry area, protected from uncontrolled moisture exchange and contamination. Minimise prolonged exposure to humid air or excessive heat to preserve the defined dihydrate form.
