Product Description

Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

Chloroform 99.8% Specially Dried AR (CAS No. 67-66-3) is an analytical-reagent form of trichloromethane processed for reduced moisture contribution in procedures sensitive to water introduced through the solvent. Its chlorinated, non-aqueous character supports extraction, reagent preparation and reaction systems in which uncontrolled solvent moisture could alter phase behaviour, reagent stability or reaction outcome.

The Specially Dried AR grade is intended for moisture-sensitive analytical and preparative procedures requiring chloroform with controlled water content.

Typical Applications

  • Preparation of moisture-sensitive analytical reagent solutions.
  • Extraction and sample preparation where solvent-borne water may affect recovery or phase separation.
  • Solvent for reactions and derivatisations sensitive to introduced moisture.
  • Preparation of non-aqueous solutions for water-sensitive reagents.
  • Analytical blanks and method-development procedures requiring specially dried chloroform.
  • Solvent-exchange and reaction work-up where moisture control is technically important.

Common Synonyms

  • Specially Dried Chloroform
  • Dry Chloroform
  • Trichloromethane
  • Methane Trichloride
  • Methyl Trichloride
  • Chloroform

Storage Conditions

Store in a tightly closed container protected from moisture, humid air, direct light, excessive heat, prolonged air exposure and contamination. Minimise opening and use suitably dry dispensing practices to preserve the reduced-moisture character of the solvent.
