Product Description

Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

Dichloromethane 99.9% GC (CAS No. 75-09-2) is a gas-chromatography grade of methylene chloride intended for sample preparation and control of chromatographically detectable solvent background. Its high volatility and broad organic solvating ability permit efficient extraction and dilution of compatible volatile and semi-volatile compounds before GC or GC–MS analysis.

The GC grade is intended for preparation of samples, solvent blanks and non-certified working mixtures in gas-chromatographic procedures.

Typical Applications

  • Extraction of volatile and semi-volatile organic analytes before GC determination.
  • Dilution and preparation of compatible samples for gas chromatography.
  • Preparation of GC and GC–MS solvent blanks.
  • Preparation of non-certified working mixtures containing dichloromethane or compatible analytes.
  • Evaluation of solvent-related peaks and chromatographic interference.
  • GC method development where dichloromethane is a validated extraction solvent, sample solvent or analyte.

Common Synonyms

  • Methylene Chloride
  • Methylene Dichloride
  • Methylene Bichloride
  • Methane Dichloride
  • Methane, Dichloro-
  • DCM
  • Dichloromethane

Storage Conditions

Keep the container tightly closed and protect from excessive heat, evaporation, moisture and chromatographic contamination. Minimise opening and use clean dispensing equipment to preserve volatile composition, impurity background and reproducible GC solvent-blank performance.
