Product Description

Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

N,N-Dimethyl Formamide 99.8% AR/ACS (CAS No. 68-12-2) is an analytical-reagent form of the strongly polar aprotic solvent DMF. Its ability to dissolve a wide range of polar organic substances, polymers and selected inorganic salts makes it useful in analytical reagent preparation, non-aqueous solution chemistry and sample dissolution. The solvent’s hygroscopic character must be considered whenever water content can influence concentration, reaction response or instrumental background.

The AR/ACS grade is intended for precise analytical reagent preparation and conventional chemical analysis requiring controlled assay, water contribution, residue and ultraviolet background. It supports non-aqueous titration, sample-solubilisation and reagent-blank work.

Typical Applications

  • Preparation of analytical reagent, stock and working solutions.
  • Solvent for potentiometric, conductometric and other method-compatible non-aqueous titrations.
  • Dissolution of polar organic substances, polymers and selected salts before analysis.
  • Reaction medium for analytical derivatisation and solution-response studies.
  • Preparation of solvent and procedural blanks in conventional analytical methods.
  • Laboratory quality-control work requiring AR/ACS-grade DMF.

Common Synonyms

  • N,N-Dimethylformamide
  • Dimethylformamide
  • Dimethyl Formamide
  • N,N-Dimethylmethanamide
  • N-Formyldimethylamine
  • Formic Acid Dimethylamide

Storage Conditions

Keep the container tightly closed and protect from humid air, excessive heat and analytical contamination. Minimise opening and use clean, dry dispensing equipment to limit water uptake and preserve assay, low-residue characteristics and reproducibility of analytical solution preparation.
