Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

N,N-Dimethyl Formamide 99.9% GC (CAS No. 68-12-2) is a gas-chromatography grade of DMF intended for analytical procedures requiring controlled chromatographically detectable impurity background. Its strong polar solvency supports dissolution of many organic substances, polymers and resins, but its comparatively high boiling character requires method-appropriate control of injection volume, inlet temperature, liner configuration and column compatibility.

The GC grade is intended for preparation of samples, solvent blanks and non-certified working solutions used in validated direct-injection or related gas-chromatographic procedures. It also supports determination of DMF as a process or residual solvent.

Typical Applications

  • Determination of DMF as a process solvent or residual solvent by validated GC methods.
  • Preparation of non-certified DMF stock and working solutions.
  • Dissolution of compatible polar samples for direct-injection GC analysis.
  • Preparation of GC and GC–MS solvent or procedural blanks.
  • Evaluation of volatile and chromatographically detectable impurities in DMF.
  • Development and verification of GC methods involving high-boiling polar sample solvents.

Common Synonyms

  • N,N-Dimethylformamide
  • Dimethylformamide
  • Dimethyl Formamide
  • N,N-Dimethylmethanamide
  • N-Formyldimethylamine
  • Formic Acid Dimethylamide
  • DMF

Storage Conditions

Keep the container tightly closed and protect from humid air, excessive heat and chromatographic contamination. Minimise opening and use clean, dry dispensing equipment to preserve water content, solvent composition and the low impurity background required for reproducible GC sample and blank preparation.
