Product Description

Detailed information about the product

Product Overview

Petroleum Ether 60-80°C AR (CAS No. 8032-32-4) is an analytical-reagent petroleum hydrocarbon fraction characterised by a 60-80°C boiling range. Its non-polar solvency and controlled volatility make it useful for extraction and sample-processing procedures in which a moderately volatile hydrocarbon phase is required.

The AR grade is intended for conventional analytical extraction, gravimetric sample preparation, partition studies and quality-control procedures. It provides a cleaner analytical solvent territory than routine Extra Pure grade material and delivers superior analytical performance. Moreover, its use is preferred where there is an involvement of sensitive instruments.

Typical Applications

  • Analytical liquid–liquid extraction
  • Gravimetric extraction procedures
  • Sample cleanup and phase separation
  • Partition and recovery studies
  • Preparation of hydrophobic analytical solutions
  • Solvent-evaporation analytical work
  • Laboratory quality-control extraction

Common Synonyms

  • Petroleum ether
  • Petroleum benzine
  • Ligroin
  • Benzine
  • Light petroleum

Storage Conditions

Store tightly closed and protect from evaporation and analytical contamination. Preserve the defined boiling-range fraction and avoid contamination with less volatile solvent residues.
