Product Overview
Potassium Ferrocyanide Trihydrate 98% Extra Pure (CAS No. 14459-95-1) is the trihydrate of tetrapotassium hexacyanoferrate(II), containing a low-spin iron(II) centre coordinated by six cyanide ligands. The ferrocyanide anion is substantially different from free cyanide in its coordination chemistry and is readily oxidised to ferricyanide under suitable conditions. It also forms strongly coloured or sparingly soluble metal hexacyanoferrates with selected metal ions.
The Extra Pure grade is suitable for general inorganic synthesis, coordination chemistry, pigment-related studies and redox investigations requiring the trihydrate form.

Storage Conditions
Keep tightly closed and protect from prolonged light, contamination and uncontrolled moisture exchange so that the defined trihydrate form and iron(II) complex state are preserved. Avoid prolonged exposure to strongly oxidising conditions during storage because oxidation changes ferrocyanide to ferricyanide.
