Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
Silver Nitrate 99% Extra Pure (CAS No. 7761-88-8) is the nitrate salt of silver(I) and provides a soluble source of Ag⁺ ions for inorganic, preparative and photochemical laboratory chemistry. Silver(I) displays strong affinity for halide and several other donor anions, leading to characteristic precipitation and complex-formation reactions. Silver nitrate is also photosensitive and can undergo reduction to elemental silver under suitable chemical or photochemical conditions.
The Extra Pure grade is intended for general preparation of silver salts, precipitation studies, inorganic synthesis and laboratory investigations requiring a soluble silver(I) reagent. Reaction behaviour remains dependent on light exposure, complexing species, reducing conditions and the chemistry of the counter-anion being introduced.

Storage Conditions
Store tightly closed and protect from light to limit photochemical darkening and reduction of silver species. Prevent contamination by halides, reducing substances and organic residues that can precipitate or consume silver ions and change reagent composition.
