Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
Tris Buffer 99% Extra Pure (CAS No. 77-86-1) is tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane, a water-soluble organic amino alcohol containing one primary amino group and three hydroxymethyl groups. Commonly called Tris or Tris base, it behaves as a weak organic base and is widely used to prepare aqueous buffering systems, particularly in the near-neutral to mildly alkaline region. Its acid–base equilibrium is temperature-sensitive, so the pH of Tris-containing solutions can change appreciably when the temperature changes.
The Extra Pure grade is intended for routine laboratory buffer preparation, general reagent formulation and pH-control work where a dependable Tris buffer substance is required without the additional application-specific controls associated with analytical, chromatographic or molecular-biology grades. It can be combined with a suitable acid, commonly hydrochloric acid, to prepare Tris-based buffers over its effective buffering region and is useful in general laboratory procedures requiring stable control of moderately alkaline pH.
