Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
Tris Buffer 99.9% For Molecular Biology (CAS No. 77-86-1) is tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane, a water-soluble amino alcohol widely used as a buffering component in nucleic-acid, protein and enzyme-related laboratory systems. Its useful buffering region encompasses many near-neutral to mildly alkaline biochemical conditions, while its pronounced temperature dependence means that Tris-buffered solutions should be prepared and adjusted with consideration of the temperature at which they will be used.
The Molecular Biology grade is intended for preparation of high-purity Tris-based buffers used in DNA, RNA and protein workflows. Tris serves as a principal buffering component in electrophoresis buffers, nucleic-acid handling solutions, extraction and washing buffers, enzyme-compatible reagent systems and Tris-buffered saline formulations. Its role is to maintain controlled pH during biomolecular manipulations in which changes in proton concentration can influence nucleic-acid stability, protein behaviour and enzyme performance.
