Detailed information about the product
Product Overview
Tween 20 For Molecular Biology (CAS No. 9005-64-5), commonly known as polysorbate 20, is a hydrophilic nonionic surfactant based on polyoxyethylene sorbitan laurate structures. Its amphiphilic character enables micelle formation and mild detergent action in aqueous systems, allowing interaction with hydrophobic membrane components and proteins while avoiding the ionic charge associated with anionic or cationic detergents.
The Molecular Biology grade is intended for biochemical and molecular-biology procedures in which Tween 20 functions as a controlled nonionic detergent component of aqueous buffers and reagent systems. It is particularly useful in membrane-protein solubilization and in washing, blocking and dilution buffers used in protein detection workflows, where reduction of nonspecific interactions and effective wetting of membrane surfaces are important. Its water compatibility also supports detergent-containing sample-preparation and biomolecular handling procedures in which mild surfactant action is required.

Storage Conditions
Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place and protect from prolonged exposure to light, heat and air. Polysorbate 20 is susceptible to gradual oxidative degradation and peroxide formation during storage, particularly under elevated-temperature conditions.
