Product Overview

Urea 99% Extra Pure (CAS No. 57-13-6) is carbonyl diamide, a small nitrogen-containing compound containing a carbonyl group flanked by two amino groups. Its extensive hydrogen-bonding capability and high polarity give it distinctive solution and crystal behaviour, while thermal or chemical transformations can lead to condensation and formation of nitrogen-containing derivatives. Urea is also widely used as a model chaotropic solute in macromolecular research.

The Extra Pure grade is intended for general nitrogen chemistry, laboratory solution preparation, polymer and resin research and studies of protein denaturation and chaotropic effects. Its strong hydrogen-bonding behaviour makes it useful for investigating macromolecular solvation and concentrated aqueous systems.
